East Teak Gets "Decked Out" in Tiles
Hardwood Decking Tiles Offer a New Look for the Outdoors
DALLAS - July 24, 2007
East Teak Fine Hardwoods, Inc., the industry leader in First European Quality teak and other fine hardwood products, introduces its collection of teak and ipé (ipe) decking tiles, which offer a distinctive and simple way to revamp a deck or patio. Whether remodeling or designing for a new construction project, East Teak's hardwood tiles offer a quality alternative to traditional decking.
Either as a permanent or temporary solution, East Teak's deck and patio tiles are designed to be easy to install in any sized area. Various applications for teak and ipé (ipe) tiles include:
- over existing concrete condo or apartment balcony
- on existing wood deck or cement patio
- roof tops
- walkways
- landscaping feature
"With the growing popularity of exotic hardwood decks, consumers are drawn to these natural, durable deck tiles," says George Guy, Vice President of East Teak. "The different styles and wood species can accommodate anyone in search of a hot new decking alternative."
Specifically, teak decking tiles from East Teak carry all the inherent characteristics of teak wood, such as a natural resistance to weather, termites and other insects. Teak's natural oils repel water and fungus, making these tiles ideal for outdoor settings. East Teak's teak tiles are available in either straight or diagonal patterns, and measure roughly 20" x 20".
East Teak's ipé (ipe) tiles offer a durable and cost-effective alternative to teak. With an olive-brown coloration, ipé (ipe) is naturally resistant to rot and decay, is recognized for being one of the strongest timbers in the world, and has the same fire resistance rating as concrete or steel. Available in a straight pattern with non-slip grooves, the ipé (ipe) tiles also measure roughly 20" x 20".
According to Guy, East Teak also offers a simple installation solution for teak and ipé (ipe) tiles. I-Connect is a mechanism that grips tiles together in a system of simple holes and pegs, and can be separated into halves or quarters to accommodate the edges of the installation. I-Connect is made of durable plastic and allows tiles to avoid direct contact with the surface.
"The size of the tiles and the slat patterns allow for versatility when installing, so end users can achieve a more traditional look or create unique patterns," added Guy. "Whether it's an existing space or a new construction, teak and ipé (ipe) tiles offer an affordable alternative to traditional hardwood decking, but with all the benefits and beauty of natural wood."
